2017 Bentley Continental GT
It is official as the news that has recently hit the industry about a 2017 Bentley Continental GT version. The third generation is an anticipated model as it promises to change the face of this brand in a larger way and is going to do so in a great fashion. The vehicle has been given only a facelift during its whole existence once, and it is no surprise that all of the Bentleys seem similar to each other.
The Continental GT brand started its journey in 2003 when Bentley and Volkswagen AG started its coalition and managed to produce one of the more popular cars on the market and something that has become a trademark for the industry. but during this stint that car produced two generation of models and no significant improvement except an updated V-8 engine and an interior change. The 2017 model is supposed to change all of that as this is the first model which is going to add new elements to the car and make it much more distinguishable from its previous versions.
The thing is that for the 2016 there already is a Bentley Continental GT update and even the new Bentley Bentayga vehicle which is going to be get all the attention for itself which may result in pushing the release date of this model a bit back. The car may come in the end of next year perhaps but it is supposed to open a whole new door for Bentley vehicles that are supposed to come out. What is actually already in plans are the Flying Super sedan, GT Speed and the convertible version of the Continental that are also going to be issued.
There are still many things to consider in terms of the 2017 Continental GT as there may be many things that are going to be changed with the appearance of the car until it gets to be released. But we managed to find out that the model is going to be heavily based on the EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept that was released last year at the Geneva convention. Read about all the updates right here in this review.
2017 Bentley Continental GT exterior and interior news
The 2017 Bentley Continental GT is going to take a luxury direction. The designers have announced immediately after the release of the EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept that this model has the future direction of luxury and performance written all over it, so they kind of a in a way indicated that this was their target and plan all along. This is actually a good point which we welcome and think that there is no better concept vehicle currently out there in which to base the future Continental GT release.
Of course the production vehicle is not going to be built up as the concept is and is going to adopt a lot of changes which are going to tone it down a bit. First of all, they need to do that to make it production friendly and also the car does not need that much extravagance to it. This means then changing the headlights and the design of the wheels and getting rid of all the flamboyant parts that the concept had.
As for the inside, we actually feel that it will change more than the outside. It is going to be based on the aforementioned concept model but we see it as completely changed and remodeled. The concept actually shares the dual-brow instrument panel design and also leather seats and door panels with the current Continental GT, but actually a more stylish and advanced trim compared to it. We feel that things are going to change in a great way here but it would not be all bad if the stylish look gets to be kept here.
There are also some rumors that say that the Tesla Model S has the perfect setup which might help the 2017 Bentley Continental GT achieve greatness. Thus the car can borrow the two-tier element on the dash, full digital gauge cluster, the sportier three-spoke steering wheel and help the car create more depth to it with the addition of the eye catching details that were added.
2017 Bentley Continental GT engine
There are many rumors on what exactly the 2017 Bentley Continental GT is going to use as its power source. Perhaps the most important part of the car is going to be the engine variant and what gets to be chosen will determine the future of the brand. There are some indications that the type of engine inside the Porsche Panamera which uses the new Porsche MSB platform is a sure choice here. It is certain that het 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 is still going to be used but there are some possibilities that the car adds a 6.0-liter W-12 engine as well. Rumors are also debating a plug-in hybrid option but it is almost certain that something like that is reserved for the Flying Spur model.
Release date and price
The current Continental is priced at $193,500 which only leaves the new 2017 Bentley Continental GT version with a higher price tag which goes beyond the $200,000 mark. We assume that the late part of 2017 is the right time and the most appropriate one when the car gets to be released.
