2017 Chevrolet Express
With the announced changes that are supposed to be introduced to the 2017 Chevrolet Express van, the full-size sedan segment is going to face a shakeup. The segment has been a bit stale in recent years and has not been remodeled or regularly updated as the pickup-truck siblings have been. The outdated look of the current vans is soon to be changed as the Express promises to bring back hope to the segment by introducing some new updates to its vehicle.
The express has managed to maintain good sales over the years, but as it appears the pressure has been mounting from both sides. The full-size segment has been dominated by Dodge and recently added Ford models which are already making a lot of pressure of this car. Below it, there are Ford Transit Connect cars used for urban or commercial use which have also been updated an rising in use. Thus the only thing left for the Express is to think of something good.
The Chevrolet Express made its debut back in 1996 and since then has got a long career of driving and helping to haul people and all kinds of stuff around. But since then it has not been updated and has mainly stayed the same in the manner of its looks.
The car is being offered again for the 2017 year and some improvements have been made. That is not to say that they have gone a long way to remodel the car but they still have done something to change the face of the Express model. Functionality is still a big part of the car and besides being offered in various configurations and wheelbase sizes it will also come with updated powertrain offers as well.
Exterior for the 2017 Chevrolet Express
The changes to the 2017 Chevrolet Express are not that easily noticeable. Although they did incorporated some new additions to the car it will take you some time so spot them. As the look of the Express has managed to age well they are keeping a pretty big part of it, with some additions made here and there. There is s flowing body line which goes at the side of the car and the headlights are still mounted high and come with grey surrounds.
The last restyle also added a bigger nose of the Chevrolet car and it allowed the engine to be pulled further upfront. This meant that the engine was not jammed into the driver’s area so much and enabled more space on the interior. The same thing has been done here and there is a lot more interior spacing going on here compared to before.
The biggest difference compared from before has been made for the LT models. The re-styled dual-composite headlamps are now going to be placed here and are going to replace the single lamp squares used before. But the same kind of design remains to be used for the LS trims of the car.
The way the interior of the 2017 Chevrolet Express has been made to work is to make it as functional as possible. There is very little of high-tech technology added and not a lot of sound deadening innovations made. The car is also offered in different wheelbases so it offers seating for 2-, 8- or 12-seat formats. The largest is the 3500 Van which has an extended wheelbase and is able to seat up to 15 people at once.
The dashboard has simple hard plastic materials used for them and does not look luxuries at all. But since it does not need to it offers you a lot of storage space and with deep cup holders which are to the front so you can put all kinds of junk there if you need to. The seats come only with two kinds of coverings, vinyl or cloth, and they are also available in two different colors, Neutral and Medium Pewter.
The innovation added here is that the 2017 Chevrolet Express is going to features power windows and power doors for the first time. Also depending on the type, you can chose to get either sliding or swing-out doors passenger doors in the back. The car is highly functional and does not feature any updates hat were made for the pickup trucks in recent times. To make the comfort of the passengers better, an A/C has been added but is only available with the LT trims.
Engine Power and Specs
The most important change concerned with the powertrain of the 2017 Chevrolet Express is that the base version has been dropped and replaced. We do not longer get a 4.3-liter V-6 under the hood of the Express as it was replaced in favor of the 4.8-liter V-8 one as the base option. Also available are the 5.3-liter and 6.0-liter gasoline V-8s options as well. As for the biggest option, namely the 3500 Extended Wheelbase Express version, the 6.6-liter Duramax diesel V-8 engine is being utilized and you can get the all-wheel drive version
Thus depending on the engine the power will change, so the base 4.8-liter V-8 makes 285 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, the 5.3-liter V-8 is able to churn out 310 horsepower and 334 pound-feet of torque, the 6.0-liter V-8 makes 342 horsepower and 73 pound-feet or torque while the 6.6-liter Duramax Diesel V-8 makes 260 horsepower and 525 pound-feet of torque. All come standard with a Four-speed automatic while the 6.0-liter V-8 uses a Six-speed automatic transmission.
