2017 Mazda CX-3 Review

Mazda has released its 2017 Mazda CX-3 car which is actually peculiar looking as it can be placed in a few segments. It is actually like a larger Mazda 3 model but with five doors like the other CX models from the lineup. It retains a similar appearance of some of the bigger Mazda cars but still manages to incorporate the KODO Soul of Motion design language which is a part of every contemporary Mazda vehicle.

The interior has also been jacked up with large passenger compartments and very good ergonomics. Under the hood there is going to be a Skyactive powertrain with a 6-speed transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard while all-wheel drive is optional. And on top of all that the car is going to have some really good safety features which complete this redesign.

The newest 2017 Mazda CX-3 is a sporty little crossover which is very good looking and very surely. It is cheaper than the bigger CX-5 model but can still seat 5 people on the inside. It also has the ability to pull 35 mph and represents the newest thing that Mazda has to offer. Check out the review and see how favorable this car can actually be.

Exterior Looks and Redesign

The exterior design of the 2017 Mazda CX-3 utilizes the KODO design to meld many different character lines into one seamless design. The car is swoopy and angular looking and is also very determined and attentive as it brings fort the combination of sharp headlights, a hunkered stance, open grille, wide footprint, and sloping roofline.

There is a rising skirt line which comes from the wheels and goes upward and goes all the way to the blacked-out trim piece in the rear bumper’s bottom. There are also twin exhaust pipes which come from under the bodywork for the car and give it a sporty flair as well.

The falling beltline from the hood goes downward and passes through the side mirrors and ends in the rear fenders. The back has a small piece which of glass which also packs in an added spoiler as well. All in all, the hunched look of the car is a really good decision for the new 2017 Mazda CX-3 and makes for a very appealing crossover on the current market.

Interior Changes and Additions

The interior of the 2017 Mazda CX-3 significantly borrows a lot of elements from the Miata models.  There is the same split dash-which borrows the tablet-like infotainment screen with the HVAC system. There are the round air vents on the sides and a rectangular one on the passenger side center console. There are three pods which make up the driver’s gauge cluster and in the middle there is the large tachometer small digital speed readout. The manual shifter gate is focused to the driver side as well as the hand break which is also driver-centric. On the right side of the passenger there is also the rotary infotainment controller knob added as well.

The HVAC system is made out of three large knobs, so you do not have to search through a screen menu. The added multifunction steering wheel also makes a lot of difference and makes things easier for the driver. It is loaded with radio switches, Bluetooth controls and other controls switches as well. Interestingly the rear seats of the Mazda have a stadium seating-like arrangement where the second row is slightly higher than the first row is. Also, the seats are placed further inboard making it easier for conversation between the front and second row passengers.

Powertrain Specs

Under the hood of the 2017 Mazda CX-3 is a 2.0-liter Skyactiv four-cylinder naturally aspired engine. The is the same engine which is used for the Mazda 3 model and will now be transferred for use in the CX-3 version. It is assumingly going to make the same kind of a power output making 155 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque.

Combined with the engine is the six-speed automatic transmission with manual shifting and is the only gearbox choice which the automobile comes with. But you do have a choice between the front-wheel and all-wheel drivertrain options with the former being the standard and the latter the optional one given. With the AWD system comes a Active Torque Control coupling and a front wheel slip warning detection system which is the part of the now expanded safety which the model is offering.
