The Detroit Motor Show has been all about big trucks and performance cars. And as we have had the chance of seeing many interesting and revolutionary models, one of them which certainly needs to be set in the spot light is the new 2015 Ram 1500 pickup truck. The release date was set as the Detroit show being the official unveiling for the truck while the production date has still not been set.
In a competitive market, Ram certainly needed to pull something great to get back on the horse and rival such firms like Toyota. The new Ram vehicle will offer a full-sized off road experience, as this has been a long time in the making which has been finalized at last. “A full of-road-style package is offered with the new 1500 truck” is what the president of Ram stated when unveiling this car.
What has changed for the 1500 from Ram is the rugged exterior, which is made to be able to embark on any type of a terrain it needs to. The stylistic changes are not only aesthetic but very useful as well. The inside fits the bill perfectly with the outside, making the theme of a manly and masculine vehicle run its course through the in as well as the out of the vehicle.
2015 Ram 1500 Exterior
Let’s review the inside of the new Ram truck first. The truck has changed their iconic “cross-hair” design of the grille and substituted it with a blacked out Rebel grille. Combined with a new black off-road front bumper which has been made out of a durable powder-coated surface, the design of the front part of the car is concluded. Added is the new front tow hooks with a billet silver skid plate and new LED fog lamps, which more than enough maximize the off road experience given by this car.
At the sides added are the flat-black badge, black Power Wagon wheel-arch moldings, mirrors and lower body panels. This concludes the Ram’s trail ready presence giving it the attitude needed for off road driving. The truck also comes in various color schemes, but the black paintjob is constant on the lower body of the car for all models.
The exterior review is concluded with the wheels. The 1500 now uses the 17-inch aluminum wheels with a new design. Used are the new one-piece wheels which are painted so the pockets are in the matte black color while the multi-angled surfaces are in the color matching the car.
The inside goes hand in hand with the outside. The rugged look is sort of a theme of the new Ram 1500 vehicle which has proven to be great for the fans. The inside includes the new industry-exclusive seating elements with the seats being made out of High-durability technical grain vinyl with Sedoso fabric inserts.
The front seats also include Light Diesel Gray accent stitching with the standard heating system used in all Ram vehicles. On the headrest you will also see the Radar Red Ram’s embroidery while the upper seat bolsters include a Light Diesel Gray Rebel nameplate fitted on them.
The all-black instrument panel is a great tone for the car, particularly if we add the Gray Metallic paint on the center console, which give the inside of the car a cast-iron appearance. The center console also includes a new mobile phone or tablet holder with various model inserts allowing you to plug in multiple devices. We shall conclude the inside analysis of the vehicle by also mentioning the inclusion of the new vent rings, door trim spears, door accent rings and a center console trim ring.
Under the hood of the 2015 Ram 1500 we have two trim options. The first one is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine, which was actually a three time winner of the Ward’s 10 Best Engines Award. Matting this baby under the hood of the Ram truck means 305 horsepower, with 269 lb.-ft. of torque and a fuel economy of 25 miles per gallon.
Or on the other hand, you can get your 1500 truck with a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine. The legendary engine offers a fuel-saving cylinder shut-off and provides you with 395 horsepower at 410 lb.-ft. of torque. Hemi powered Ram trucks come available in 4×4 or 4×2 powertrains as well.
What is more than helpful in off-road driving and which is available with both the engine options is the inclusion of a rear anti-spin differential, which immediately turns both rear wheels at the same time when you apply an increased amount of torque on them.
Price and Release Date
The starting price of the base model is estimated at some $25,060, while for additional add-ons and equipment you will have to spend some more money.
