2016 Chevy Colorado Duramax is the next model in Chevrolet Colorado’s second generation which started in 2012. Chevrolet Colorado and its twin, GMC Canyon, are medium size pickup trucks marketed by General Motors.
The first generation of these vehicles was designed in a cooperation with GM’s North American operations, GM’s Brazil operations and Isuzu. Isuzu developed and sold their own version of this car worlwide in 2002. All versions, Chevrolet, GMC and Isuzu were based on the GMT355 which was a base for the Hummer H3.
Colorado and Canyon both offer manual and automatic transmission, rear wheel drive and AWD. The company made sure that they have everything that customers want, but this 2016 Chevy Colorado Duramax is going to have something, nobody expect from Chevrolet.
In this review we are going to explore some of the possibilities for this model including the exterior, interior, engine specs, release date and price.
2016 Chevy Colorado Duramax Interior
There isn’t much to say about the interior of 2016 Chevy Colorado Duramax, at least not many things that you don’t already know. We all know that this boy is huge enough to carry an elephant and there will still be some place left for your mother in law. Seriously, beside the usual upgrades like better materials for dashboard, higher quality of seats with dirt resistant fabrics or better sound system, drivers are going to enjoy in even more enhanced color driver information center display where you can control every aspect of your vehicle starting from climate and audio controls, all the way to the rear view cameras.

Vehicle is made for five people, but it can handle a sixth person as well. As we mentioned, this car has high level of equipment with: six airbags, collision prevention system, immobilizer, 360 degree camera, heated and ventilated seats, Electronic trailer sway control, trailer movement assistant and more.
2016 Chevy Colorado Duramax Exterior
This new model, 2016 Chevy Colorado Duramax, is significantly increased in size, it is now longer, wider and placed higher from the ground. It looks more aggressive, stronger and more agile. More upgrades came in the form of new front and rear bumpers, updated grille, really huge headlights in front and rectangular taillights on the back. Extra underbody protection is also noticeable even on the first sight.
Engine and MPG
And this is the part where it all goes strange for Chevrolet. Finally these vehicles are going to get a diesel engine! A four cylinder diesel engine has been added to the offer for 2016 Chevy Colorado Duramax as well as for GMC Canyon. This option is going to set 2016 Chevy Colorado Duramax and GMC Canyon as the only diesel mid-size pickups in the United States.
Engine used in 2016 Chevy Colorado Duramax is 2.8 liter Duramax four cylinder turbo-diesel with 180 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. That is a confirmed future option and not a rumor or a speculation. There were some rumors about the smaller version of this engine, but that is not yet confirmed. If confirmed, that engine would have a slight advantage over the 2.8 liter in terms of fuel economy.
That second version would be a 2.5 liter Duramax in-line four cylinder turbodiesel with direct injection and the output of 150 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. The fuel consumption (MPG) of the 2.8 liter model is going to be 34 mph on a highway which is pretty good for a vehicle of that size.
2016 Chevy Colorado Duramax Release Date and Price
2016 Chevy Colorado Duramax release date is scheduled for the fall of 2015 or the beginning of 2016. The price will be the same as for the normal gasoline version starting at 26,700 dollars.
