2016 Subaru Legacy exterior
The outside design of the new 2016 Subaru Legacy focuses mostly on a sportier look compared to before. It actually makes the car seem more like a sports coupe which really does the trick in every sense of the word. The most part of this is achieved with the added bumper and grille which integrate pretty great into this overall concept. The base of the roofline is pulled back for two inches which makes it a very rewarding change compared to the last-generation car. The steel hood was also thrown out and substituted in favor of an aluminum one which adds more balance and helps with the weight distribution of the car.
The headlights have been changed completely and are substituted in favor of the new and very cool eye-hawk design ones. This is a part of the old and traditional look, which also means the old funky-looking half grille which was swapped with a louvered grille and a cleaner front apron. The back side also gets the better and cleaner taillights while the bumper wraps more cleanly around the tailpipe.
All of the exterior changes actually bring to an overall improvement of 10% in favor of aerodynamics for the car. This is going to enhance the fuel efficiency of the car and also make it much more drivable. The 2.5i Limited trim cars come with a special set of features which add Active Grille Shutter system which actually closes the grille and enhances the aerodynamics and the fuel efficiency even further.
The 2016 Subaru Legacy also has a completely revamped cabin coming into this redesign. The first thing that is noticeable is the growth in dimensions. The car has a total of 104.6 cubic feet for passengers, which is a 1.6 cubic-foot increase. The cargo area also has a total of 15 cubes, which is a 0.3 inches increase compared to the previous model.
The dash adds some binocular-style gauge pods which also adds a 3.5-inch LCD screen placed between them. The EyeSight system offers you a five inches larger screen as optional. Added is the ECO gauge system which shows the performance of your Legacy very accurately.
The entire cabin has a horizontal theme which actually helps the car have a seemingly larger cabin than it actually is. Also added to the mix are the premium materials that are added with teh addition of some soft-touch surfaces which make the sedan feel much more premium.
The 2016 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Limited offers some upper trim additions like the six-speaker sound system, SiriusXM and SMS texting, a seven-inch screen and an optional 12 harman/kardon speakers and 576 watts of power.
The engines utilized under the hood for the 2016 Subaru Legacy are going to be familiar options. You get the a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and a 3.6-liter six-cylinder as last year. The base version receives a slight upgrade in power as it makes 175 horsepower , but the torque remains the same at 174 pound-feet. The later engine option has a 256 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque output and both engines are going to use a Lineartronic CVT, but the six-pot engine gets a high-torque variant of the transmission.
