The “C” in Toyota Prius stands for “city”, so you can already imagine an ordinary housewife or an entire family going to 7/11, taking groceries for the Sunday afternoon’s lunch, going past you with nothing more than the buzzing sound. Yeeah, but the story is not so simple and this review doesn’t end here. Toyota Prius is a full hybrid, combination of gasoline and electric engine, subcompact hatchback made and marketed by Toyota Motor Corporation. It is basically a Toyota Yaris updated with a hybrid engine. This version of a car has been, and presumably, will be cheaper than basic Toyota Prius, and it has a higher fuel economy in city driving.
First production version of Toyota Prius C has been presented to the United States audience at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. This is going to be a review of 2016 Toyota Prius C Hybrid (or to be more precise, the preview of everything rumored), and its main pros and cons, concerning the engine, exterior and interior looks, release date and price.
2016 Toyota Prius C Hybrid Exterior
There were some spy photos and videos circling around the web with something that could be a 2016 Toyota Prius C Hybrid. We still don’t know if it is going to be a “C” model, but judging by the shape caught on those pictures, it just might be. All the pictures show some camouflaged prototype standing on a gas station in Baker, Calif. If you are a Prius owner, you can easily recognize those well known body lines. Since it is a camouflaged vehicle that resembles a Prius, or a prototype, if you like, there are no extensive info’s and rumors. Nobody knows anything, expect that there were plans for a 2016 release, but it was halted because of some minor tweaks and changes that were needed to be done.
Interior of 2016 Toyota Prius C Hybrid
Spy photos from the 2016 Toyota Prius C Hybrid interior show some more conventional dashboard, with analogue gauges (we already said that that is a prototype right?). The central part was shown with some serious amount of duck tape so we couldn’t even see the shape of a central part. We presume are sure that there will be a central screen which will control the entire infotainment system, including the air-conditioning, front and rear camera and any other additional system (who knows what will be released until the final version of 2016 Toyota Prius C Hybrid). Toyota management claims that the new 2016 Toyota Prius C Hybrid is going to be more roomier, better designed and easier to use.
We expect to see the same 2016 Toyota Prius C Hybrid 1.8 liter engine paired with smaller but more powerful electric motors. The batteries life has to be, at least, better than on the current version, so they might start using lithium-ion pack batteries for a longer range. With those updates, 2016 Toyota Prius C Hybrid engine is going to have a fuel consumption of at least 55 mpg, judging by our experience with their models in the past.
Release Date and Price
It’s now very hard to find a correct release date for 2016 Toyota Prius C Hybrid. The fact that Toyota has already halted the production until late 2016, looks like waving with the red flags. It doesn’t have to be like that, but it is a serious delay. It could just mean that they found some problems, and they didn’t want to go public with that. So, only remaining thing left to be done is to delay the release. 2016 Toyota Prius C Hybrid price is also unknown, but it is expected to be lower than the release price of the current model.
