2017 Buick Riviera

By

One of the more anticipated models of the year is the 2017 Buick Riviera. The model has been announced for a release actually quite some time ago, but the luxury brand never got to its production release. That is until this year. The confirmation has been given and an all new two-seater with a hybrid engine is going to be offered pretty soon arriving on the market next year.

The car is going to be based on the Riviera concept car which was showcased in Shanghai a few years ago. It was actually the start of the rumors and the period when we were much closer to getting the model. But as it panned out it took longer than it was supposed to. The designers run into some problems and it was near to impossible to transfer all the futuristic looks and design aspects of the concept Riviera to the production vehicle. They managed to pull through and to a good job, as seen from the pictures, but it was still a downgrade compared to the space ship that the concept Riviera was.

The model was announced as the next big thing in the luxury brand market. Buick has finally decided to release a model which is going to have it all and which was supposed to entice the audience for this car. The transferred details to the production version are a bit toned down but they still do make an interesting approach to the ca. It still has the hybrid powertrain which is certainly a plus for the 2017 Buick Riviera.

Exterior Looks for the 2017 Buick Riviera

As expected, the exterior design of the 2017 Buick Riviera will be based on the concept model which came out in 2013. Being that the concept was a little bit over the top and it looked more like a space craft than an actual car, the designers needed to make a more user-friendly and a production-capable design. This led to what we have today in front of us. Compared to the concept, the current Riviera has gotten rid of some sharp details and they have retained a production-ready design. It is not what we were hoping for to ultimately get, but it still looks good and will attract a lot of people to the Buick brand.

The car will retain the traditional long hood which the many Buick cars have and will keep the coupe like design which the concept introduced. The shape of the car is pretty similar to the Tourer version that Aston Martin is now introducing but the Riviera still manages to look unique in a sort of way. The model also introduced some new aggressive bodywork parts which is seen from the sharp headlights and the newly designed grille which have been adapted to the car now.

Interior Changes and Introduction

The interior of the 2017 Buick Riviera looks great. Although it is a big downgrade from what the concept model has shown us, this one has managed to look good despite the downgrades which were made to the car. It was next to impossible to transfer all those futuristic looking elements from the concept. The concept really looked amazing and we confess that we were hooked as well immediately when we saw how interesting the interior was shaping to be. But in the bottom of our hearts we suspected the thought, and that is that the car is going to be scaled down and remodeled for the production version.

As the production version has been made to be a bit bigger in its size, the interior spacing has been expanded and the car features much more room than you would expect it to have. The new seats which have been added not only look good but provide better comfort as they can allow better support for your back and posture. The seats are covered with leather materials for a better feel and look.

The dashboard has the greatest departure compared to the concept. It is much more user-friendly now and does not incorporate that wild look and a futuristic design. Drivers will take much less time to get used to it and will have no trouble figuring out the controls. A great new steering wheel has been added which sort of a looks like the one from the concept but has also gone though some changes. There are a lot more updated gadgets and features that come available in the 2017 Buick Riviera and are meant to help you make your car much more useful and productive.

Powerplant and Engine Option

Rumors have indicated that there are going to be two engine options for the 2017 Buick Riviera engine. The fact of the matter is that they are allowing more options for the drivers and making the best that they can have. Thus the base version is supposed to be the 3.6- liter V-6 naturally aspired engine which is going to make 320 horsepower and equally impressive torque of 286 lb-ft. The secondary engine is going to be a mixture of a 3 L twin turbocharged V6 that comes supported with an electronic engine which is going to bring about a total output of  400 hp and maximum torque of 450 lb-ft. Of course, you can have both variants available with the use of an all-wheel drive and they will be supported by a new 10 speed automatic gearbox.

Release Date and Price

We will be able to see the new 2017 Buick Riviera by the end of next year. As it was reported the first official showcasing of the car will be made at the Beijing auto festival at the start of the year. Later on the release date will be given but we are completely sure that that will happen by the end of 2017. Expect the cost to start at 50,000 dollars and maybe you can add another 10,000 dollars for all the equipment and specific additions which the car is going to offer.
