2017 Chevrolet Impala review

There are some early information being released about the 2017 Chevrolet Impala that are going to be available prior to its release. The model has been officially announced for the upcoming New York Auto Show for its first showcasing with the release date coming some time later after that. But the leaked information about the Impala are beneficial for the fans as we get to find out the necessary things about the car a little bit early.

The Chevy Impala has been known as a muscle car in its past. During the 1960s, this model was equally feared and cherished for its speed and comfort as it produced a great performance for its time. As years went by, that car maker needed to focus more on the fuel efficiency and the emission that the car produced so the model started gradually toning down. The current model has dropped down to a family vehicle and the 2017 Chevy Impala is an update of the contemporary kind.

During the 2011 model year, the Impala has been the best selling full-size sedan as it opened the stage for many others after it. In order to bring back some of its charm from then and bring some of the potential that this version had, the 2017 update brings a lot of good and new for the model.

The design update is pretty drastic, at least for a Chevrolet car, but the updates that have been made to the engine, transmission and the safety standards are pretty average and not something that we should get worked up a lot. Thus the model uses the LWB version of the Epsilon 2 chassis and does come with a new range of engines, which is still done in a pretty standard way.

The 2017 Chevrolet Impala does not look anything like the current model that we have now, except from it being a full-size sedan of course. Looking at it from the side profile, the front of it has a similar shape like the Camaro. It does not look like a Camaro but it does bare its sweeping roofline from the front of it. The headlights are complete new and have been added for the car as a part of the update. The teardrop design used before bas been subbed in favor of the sleeker rectangular wraparound HID headlights. The honeycomb grille has also been departed and is now using the horizontal bar grille,  which in our opinion is a better choice as it gives the Impala a more premium look.

The back side also sees a lot of changes that are made. The taillights are updated by removing the triangle-shaped taillights that are now outdated and replaces them with tapered-rectangle design. We also see some twin exhaust pipes in the back of the car which actually mold into the bumper as it manages to finish off the sleek appearance of the Impala. The front grille gets some chrome accents which is also seen on the side windows. The 18-inch chrome wheels combine well with the other parts and we get an overall premium design of the 2017 Chevrolet Impala.

The interior of the 2017 Chevrolet Impala has also been revamped. The exterior is not the only part of the car which features new additions as they also managed to largely update the inside of it. There is a dual cockpit design imposed on inside the Impala, making the driver and passengers completely separate from each other giving them their own little space. There is a wraparound design of the dashboard which integrates pretty well with the entire cabin.

One of the more pleasant features of the 2017 Chevy Impala are the ambient lighting that are placed throughout the cockpit. It gives the car a very nice glow during the nighttime and does not disturb the driver that way. There are also upgraded upholstery made available with some stitching that truly emphasis the premium appearance of the car. Finally, sound insulation is one of the prime aspects that the car has been given making it perhaps the best updated sedan of the year.

The new 2017 Chevrolet Impala has a new offer to give us when it comes to the under the hood additions. First of all, the  3.6-liter V-6 engine makes a comeback and still delivers 303 horsepower in 2014 models. But there are other engines that are now available, namely the 2.5-liter four-cylinder  that makes 195-horsepower and a 2.4-liter engine which earns 182-horsepower . Every engine is mated with a six-speed automatic transmission and all of them feature direct fuel injection.

Release date and price

The model is certainly one of the most anticipated cars as the 2017 Chevrolet Impala also promises to break some records with the given design. The release date is scheduled fro next year and we are going to see it in the first quarter of 2017. The model will be shown for the first time in New York this year when you will be able to get a closer look at it. The starting price is $27,535, while the highest one cones at $36,580.
