There were a lot of new pictures circulating about the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado model around the net. But the news came to be official and all rumors were tossed aside when the car was officially unveiled and showcased at the latest Texas State Fair. The refreshed version of the Chevy Silverado has now become official and all of the details are mostly known, which actually prompted us to write this review and make it official as well.
When comparing the changes brought to the inside and outside of the car you will see that the outside has changed significantly, while leaving the inside almost the same. This does not mean that keeping the interior unchanged is a bad thing as it did offer a fine choice to start with and we did have a highly competitive interior with the previous version. The exterior now gives us a better and suitable redesign with many new goodies and design cues added.
There are also news about a powerplant update. But this changes are only going to affect teh mid and high level models of the car while leaving the base at what it currently has. But a great addition to the drivetrain is an eight-speed automatic transmission which GM has already offered for the GMC Sierra model already.
What we can say that the fresh new look of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado is a very good one and brings out the best out of this truck. The model also appears in its Silverado 1500 and Silverado 2500hd forms that are going to be available this year as well. Find out more about this car by reading it here.
What we see from the design of the latest 2017 Chevrolet Silverado is a great new aggressive design. It all starts with the grille where the updated version brings a very good looking and aggressive look which combines with an angular bumper. The straight lines seen in the previous versions now give way to curved lower lined grille at the end parts. This is a staple for the Chevy Silverado 1500 and is what makes it much more appropriate to look at than before.
The headlights are not only new but are also premium as the WT and LT trims get some HIDs while the LTZ, LTZ/Z71, and High County trim levels we have the LED ones. But regardless of what trim you decided to go with the LED daytime running lights come as a standard option.
There are going to be five trim levels in total and you can distinguish between them regarding on some of the features that they come with. The WT for instance comes with a black plastic grille which combines with a black bumper as well. The LT trim has a very upscale look as it has a lot of chrome details added to it and chrome wheels as well. The LTZ upgrades its offer with full LED headlights, taillights, fog lamps and turn signals. You can easily recognize the High Country model for its bespoke chrome grille inserts while the LTZ with the Z71 package has the most distinctive different appearance as it has a monochromatic look.
The interior of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado has not seen many changes as in fact it has been left almost unchanged. The previous version had a very competitive inside which has been upgraded already and features an array of features that you have to be happy with. This time they just updated the software and made things much more tighter than before. This time you can get the Apple CarPlay available for the mid- and high-level infotainment systems but if you want to use the Android Auto you have to upgrade to a 7-inch infotainment touch screen.
Behind the first row of seats there is going to be a nearly flat load floor which allows for more cargo space options for you. The rear bench is foldable, there are more cup holders and storage departments placed around the cabin and added are the USB ports and 12-volt outlets as well as a very useful110-volt AC power outlet. Chevy’s 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity is still available for the car and brings in all the fun the the passengers.
The updates to the base version of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado powertrain have not been made, but the car sees some benefits from a new transmission system being employed. The base is a 4.3-liter V-6 engine, the mid-level is a 5.3-liter V-8 one while the higher trims get a 6.2-liter V-8 engine. All of the mentioned options have EcoTec3 technologies, which come with Active Fuel Management, direct fuel injection and variable valve timing. The standard transmission is still the six-speed automatic one from last time, but the upgrade includes offering the new eight-speed automatic transmission. You will get to use the new one only on mid and upper trim levels while the standard one is only offered for the base version. As always, about the 1500 and the 2500hd get an 2WD and 4WD application.
