Chrysler minivans have their own kind of reputation out here in the car world.
The weapon of choice for soccer mom’s seems to be what comes to mind when a Chrysler minivan rolls up to a local park; Reputations are earned.
Obviously, there is nothing exciting about a Chrysler minivan. But they are practical. Honestly, the 2016 Chrysler Town and Country was a great minivan.
The 2016 Chrysler Town and Country featured plenty of room, luxuries and ease of driving. From the outside, it was a decent looking transporter. Even while the odd Dodge Grand Caravan was a sister car of the Town and Country, the Chrysler managed to look much more appealing and upscale.
So in 2017, Chrysler killed the Town and Country, and half-revived the Pacifica.
Previously, the Chrysler Pacifica was a large 3-row SUV. But now, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is a minivan replacing the Town and Country.
So does the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica live up to the modest reputation of the Chrysler minivan? Yes, it does. It is probably the best minivan out there right now, even though it looks like an obese dolphin.
Chrysler named the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica after the SUV no one really cared about to help break away from the minivan it is really replacing.
The Town and Country had built its reputation, and the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica wanted to haul in as many new buyers as possible. It seems to be working well.

The Exterior-2017 Chrysler Pacifica:
The main focus of the design team for the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica was to avoid the classic minivan look at all costs.
In the journey of avoiding the Town and Country, Chrysler designed a fat Chrysler 200.
I’m kidding, the 207 Chrysler Pacifica is not that bad.
Chrysler may have taped the 200 to a minivan’s body, but it is passable here. Directly from the front, the fenders actually look pretty wide, and I like that.
The cheeks are tight to the face which helps the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica look a bit more slim.
From the side, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is wonderfully designed. Chrysler hid the door tracks into the window instead of having them on the side of the car. This looks 100 times better, since they are no obnoxious lines to ruin the design.
In the back, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica looks very tall but in a good way. The lines are very clean and flow beautifully.
A vein cascades through the side of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, and seems to be a new cue that Chrysler is adopting on their models.
Chrysler offers a number of configurations for the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, including i-Plus, Limited, Touring, Touring-I and hybrid.
If you’re planning on getting a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, try to get a high trim level one. The base level 2017 Chrysler Pacifica will do the job, but the higher-up ones looks so much better.
If that’s available to you, go for it.
The Interior-2017 Chrysler Pacifica:
The interior of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica only has one major flaw: that turn style shifter.
Until they outlaw turn knobs for shifting, I will complain.
The knob looks exactly like a volume knob, is located by the infotainment center of many knobs and is hardly distinguishable. I’ll never understand it.
I guess we can be happy that it isn’t as awful as the shifting system in the 2018 GMC Terrain. Let’s not get into that…
Other than that the interior is great. There is so much space for anything it’s dizzying.
Chrysler completely disconnected the dashboard from the center console, again for the sake of space.
Visibility in the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is also fantastic.
Chrysler offers plenty of technology for everyone inside as well. Rear seat entertainment, captains chairs, navigation, a built in vacuum and triple-zone climate control system are just a few examples.
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica’s interior is a beautiful place for a family. Safe, spacious and smart. I’m a big fan of the interior, which is saying a lot because I’m part of those people who will instantly bash a minivan for being a minivan.
The Performance-2017 Chrysler Pacifica:
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica comes with one engine option, the 3.6 L Pentastar V6. Chrysler uses this engine in pretty much all of their models.
Using the 3.6 L Pentastar isn’t a bad thing at all. The engine is incredibly reliable and versatile, which is why they use it everywhere.
Plus, this Pentastar engine has some pretty impressive power. Almost 300 horsepower out of a minivan? Have you ever heard of something like that?
This is where I do need to give Chrysler a round of applause. I’m surprised Chrysler hasn’t switched to a turbocharged fleet for the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, since that seems to be an industry trend.
The 0-60 time is pointless to talk about, horsepower is great, fuel economy is decent and it’s all wrapped in a fantastic package.
Sum It Up:
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is one of the best minivans on the market today. Chrysler invented the whole minivan thing years ago, and it’s comforting to see that Chrysler has not lost any of their game.
Expect a release date for the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica in the middle of this year.
