2017 Ford Super Duty Redesign Review

The newts 2017 Ford Super Duty Redesign will see the care transform from the design that it was to an outstanding vehicle now. It is going to take after its sibling the Ford F-150 model and will incorporate cab section given there but will retina its sheet metal which is also shaped a little bit differently. What the most important part of this redesign is the fact that they decided to cut weight by including an aluminum body, just like the F-150 model did.

The original Ford Super Duty truck was made in 1998 and since then has been Ford’s flagship truck in towing, payload capacity and power. With a rectangular grille,  vertical door handles and sloping window slots, the very original design back then was more than appreciated by the fans. This is going to be retained now with changes brought to the interior and a few additions on the inside as well.

The 2017 Ford Super Duty is going to use an all-new frame constructed  which is going to be mainly constructed from high-strength steel, actually 95% of it will be made like that. The backbone is going to be fully boxed and it makes the model 24% stiffer compared to the previously used C-frame.

The latest redesign of the Super Duty truck is 350 pounds lighter than before, which is odd for the segment as usually people who do use trucks do not like to gloat how light their truck is, but it this case it brings them an advantage by keeping all the previously established things about the model. This review will help you learn more about the release date and price of the car as well.

Exterior changes

When taking a first glace at the 2017 Ford Super Duty truck, you may not notice the similarities between it and the original 1998. In fact the model looks fairly new and much different from before, but when you look at it closer you will see that such parts like the front grille and headlights are the same as the original model is. The front end sports a  twin-bar grille with some vertical side vents placed just inside of the headlights. The closed-loop tow hooks are still present on the front bumper while the windows still have the same downward slope.

The cabin of the 2017 Ford Super Duty redesign looks much different. It is actually comparable with the F-150 model as they share a lot of similar parts together. The side vents have thus changed to a vertical position just above the doors. The similarities between the Super Duty and the F-150 actually make the production for the car much easier and allows them to save on production costs as well.

The lighting package is also upgraded as this model receives Quad-beam LED headlights with LED side spotlights  placed in the side mirrors of the truck. And the cargo box does not go without its own set of LEDs. The rear end is also quite different from the F-150 with tall taillights which go along the accent line. The bumper is fitted with an integrated trailer wiring harness and there is a heavily reinforced, frame mounted receiver hitch.

Interior update

The interior of the 2017 Ford Super Duty tuck looks very much the same as the Ford F-150 version. It is mostly a copy of the entire design of the F-150 with all the low-sheen materials, which keep the glare off the driver’s eyes, ergonomic placements of switches, Ford’s latest in SYNC technology and TFT display screens.

But the difference compared to the Super Duty version are the added glove box finished in aluminum trim placed in the cabin, some optional auxiliary switches which are here positioned in the overhead console, and trailer brake controller  which is placed a few inches away than it was before.

There are also a bunch of electronic gadgets which help the driver perform better when using the latest Super Duty model from Ford. You get no less than seven cameras around the car which allows you to get a 360-degree, overhead viewing angle and are able to see everything happening around your vehicle.

Engine specifications

Perhaps everything else seems new about the 2017 Ford Super Duty truck, but the engine has remained the same. In fact the car is still going to utilize the 6.2-liter gasoline V-8 and the 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 engine options, while those who use the classic cab can add a 6.8-liter gasoline V-10 engine. As before the primary engine is going to make 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, which is actually a 25 pound-feet of increase for the torque of the model. The mightier and secondary engine option is going to give us 440 horsepower and a class-leading 925 pound-feet of torque. The transmission has also received an improvement by adding a TorqShift-G six-speed automatic gearbox that improves shifting capabilities a lot.
