Compared to the current model, the 2017 GMC Yukon is going to get a few updates. It is actually interesting to see an update to be provided so soon as the current one has not been on the market for that long, but GMC is keeping things competitive and is offering us an update which is going to see the car skyrocket into contention with the current competing cars.
The featured updates are going to see an addition of a much more comprehensive Driver Alert Package, there is going to be a hands-free liftgate for SLT models, some 22-inch wheels with a new design and two new exterior colors to chose from.
This is going to keep the model afloat especially as the latest Lincoln Navigator, which is considered to be the main rival has added a new offer and an update which sees all sort of new features. The latest 2017 GMC Yukon is thus carrying over the lineup of trims so we are going to see the likes of Yukon, Yukon XL, and the Denali-spec trims being crossed over.
The inside is going to be overhauled as well as it adds more comfort and more capabilities as you can fit in more cargo now with the added option of customizing and folding your seats. With this update the assumptions are that the GMC Yukon is going to continue like this for several more years as the likes of Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban and also the Cadillac Escalade are going to feature the same style for the future period.

The current and the latest 2017 GMC Yukon do not look that much different when compared on the outside. There have not been any major changes for the latest update on the exterior and the few ones that have been made include some electronic features and a hands-free liftgate feature available for the SLT trim. Another addition are the 22-inch wheels that are now offered across the board for all trim levels and you can pick them as your optional choices. The SLE and the SLT are going to use the 18-icnh ones as standard, and will offer the 20- and 22-inch wheels as options. The Deanali trim uses the 20-inch ones as standard and is also going to feature the 22-inch wheels as an added option for the 2017 update.
Allowing more customization for your Yukon SUV are the added new colors that are going to be used. Besides the standard set of offered color choices you are going to be able to chose from the Crimson Red Tintcoat, which is offered for all the trim level cars, and White Frost Tricoat which you can only get as options on the SLT and Denali Yukon models. Some other new features include a new capless fuel filler neck and the Driver Alert Package which adds all sort of safety features available for the model making it much safer to dire.
The interior of the 2017 GMC Yukon does not make any innovative changes here except making things more useful and welcoming. What is very useful is the addition of fold-flat second and third row seats, giving you the option of adding more cargo if necessary and making things much more simpler. If you want to add more comfort in using this option you can opt of the power-fold function, which allows you to fold it quicker and easier. The hands-free liftgate also comes with several programs that can be used which are going to give you much more convenience in its use.
On the dash, just ring behind the wheel, is a standard eight-inch infotainment screen which allows you an easier use of many entertainment functions and options that the Yukon offers. It uses an updated IntelliLink software and also comes with SiriusXM satellite radio and 4G LTE Wi-Fi services, which you get standard for the first three months of use. Navigation comes as optional but the Denali trims give you an expanded instrument cluster with a second eight-inch display that also has some customization options available. The people in the back may also use the dual screen Blu-ray/DVD system for entertainment which are offered in the Yukon XL trims.
The newest 2017 GMC Yukon is going to have the standard powertrain option as all of the GM SUVs and Tucks have which is the EcoTec3 version of the LS small block V-8. The standard engine option of the Yukon is a 5.3-liter V-8 engine that makes 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, while the Denali trims are going to get a 6.2-liter V-8 one, which is the same engine found in a Stingray Corvette model, making 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The engine also comes with Active Fuel Management, Direct Fuel Injection and Variable Valve Timing allowing the production of power to be stronger and a higher torque number. The base transmissions option for the standard engine is the GM’s Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission, while the ones who use the Denali trim can have the latest eight-speed automatic, the Hydra-Matic 8L90, from GM.
