South Korean automobile manufacturer has decided to blend the requirements of in-city driving and offroading into one vehicle. This has, therefore, led to the introduction of the 2017 Hyundai Santa Cruz.
Hyundai first drew the curtain back on the Santa Cruz in 2015 in order to show the customers what it had cooking. This then led to the all out development of a crossover truck that was capable of doing considerable work. It was also capable of being at home in the city without looking out of place.
The aesthetic design of the Hyundai Santa Cruz is on point, with many curves incorporated on the exterior. The interior of this truck also feels very much a part of this decade due to the tech features within. The engine is also powerful enough to perform off road activities.

2017 Hyundai Santa Cruz interior
The interior of the new Santa Cruz is a good selling point for this truck. Comfort is a big feature of the cabin. The leather seats have heating which is good for the occupants during the winter months.
The leather comes with another high end upholstery material which adds to the elegance of the interior. Hyundai has not been stingy when it comes to space in the interior of the truck. There is ample head and leg room so that the occupants do not feel cramped up.
Adding to the comfort, the infotainment system of the 2017 Hyundai Santa Cruz drives up the quality of the interior. The car maker has installed a 7 inch touchscreen with which the driver can interact with the system.
The controls are all within easy reach, with a number of them on the steering wheel itself. There are also chrome inserts throughout the cabin, especially along the dashboard. These go a long way in accentuating the chic elegance of the cabin.
The 2017 Hyundai Santa Cruz sports a 2.0 liter turbo charged diesel engine that is capable of producing 190 hp of horsepower and a torque of 406 pound-feet according to 2017 Release Dates. This engine is what one is bound to start on in the base model.
Higher end trim levels of the Santa Cruz run on the power of a 2.4 liter diesel power unit. This one is capable of clocking a maximum horsepower reading of 200 hp.
2017 Best Trucks reports that there is a bonus engine option for those that are interested in this truck. The engine is said to be a 2.2 liter unit that also gives a horsepower reading in the 200 hp range.
The engines can be mated to a 6 speed manual transmission gearbox or to a 7 speed automatic transmission direct shift gearbox. HTRAC all wheel drive system is installed in the trucks.
Exterior of the new Santa Cruz
The aesthetics of the 2017 Hyundai Santa Cruz are really amazing. The front end oozes sporty aggressiveness that is common in crossover SUVs. The front grille is a hexagonal affair that is ringed by a strip of chrome surrounding a dark latticework.
The bumper rises high off the ground and is quite big. The front headlights have a squinting design that lends to the aforementioned aggressiveness that Hyundai was going for. The fog lights are quite conspicuous in their large recesses on either side of the bumper.
The side view of the bring outs the crossover aspect of the Santa Cruz. It shows two doors and as one goes towards the rear finds the truck bed instead of a second set of doors. There is also straight line that moves from the front along the side before terminating along the rear light.
All this sums up to give a sporty look to the vehicle. Though the truck bed is not as long as the one in regular trucks, it can be pulled out to extend its capacity.
