2017 Jaguar XJ Coupe Review

Jaguar has finally announced that their 2017 Jaguar XJ Coupe car is getting an update. As their flagship vehicle it is pretty important for them to get a model which is going to keep up the brand and maintain its attractiveness. What the latest car brings is an updated added to the exterior and a refreshed interior which is going to add an abundance of new technology.

The original XJ was launched for the first time on the US market in 2011, but with its rising popularity in the first period the XJ has started to plummet in recent years so an update is quite necessary. The model is being updated mainly with an aluminum construction which is going to up the performance and fuel economy as well. We are also going to get the latest gadgets as the Jaguar XJ has all the new tricks available in it.

The exterior is also getting primed a bit and its looks are going to be both aggressive and attractive at the same time. What is interesting to know is that this year they are coming with a total of eight model cars, where there are several with a long-wheelbase option. The long-wheelbase ones are supposed to bring more luxury and are a great added option that once can chose from with already a great standard one.

But even with this update the 2017 Jaguar XJ needs to battle models hailing from Germany as the rivals from Mercedes, BMW and Audi already have their own toys lined up and ready. All of this is going to be know after the release date and for this review we have prepared for you some information about the price which has been released recently.

Exterior changes

The exterior of the 2017 Jaguar XJ Coupe has received a very favorable update. Over the years Jaguar has been known to have produced a number of great looking cars which all have their own unique flair to them. The XJ is no difference as it also received a unique monocle that Jag staples to their models. The new one is not something revolutionary but it is an evolution of the XJ Jag which is continuing the tradition of good looking cars coming from this company. With some minor updates here and there they truly embody what Jaguar represents.

The changes to the car include a revised front fascia which is now going to sport a larger grille that has been updated with a whole new mesh pattern which combines with a redesigned new bumper style. The bumper also ahs new chrome surrounds and comes with new air intakes as well. The headlights have also been remodernzied by adding new adaptive LED technology with automatic high beams. You can distinguish the headlights as they come with  XJ-exclusive “Double J” daytime running lamps, while in the rear the taillights also add some LEDs which combine well with the oval-shaped tailpipes.

Furthermore, better performance is going to be provided with a reduced curb-weight which Jag is adding by using an all-aluminum construction. The 2017 Jaguar XJ is going to be available in XJ R-Sport, XJ R-Sport AWD, XJ Supercharged, and the XJR trims as their standard models and version with a longer wheelbase which include XJL Portfolio, XJL Portfolio AWD, XJL Supercharged, and XJR LWB.

Interior update

The interior of the 2017 Jaguar XJ is more than plush and luxury looking. With the made changes the car has received a traditionally luxury design which we were expecting to see out of this model and is something that we have been looking forward to.

The standard wheelbase models are going to add perforated leather seats which use contrast stitching and contrast piping to make them even more attractive looking. In the Sport models we still have the eight-by-eight-way power front seats with four-way lumbar support, while the Supercharged model goes even further with 14-by-14-way power seats with four-way lumbar support, which also come available for the XJ R-Sport models and are optional for the Comfort Pack. The XJL Portfolio and XJL Supercharged are mainly comfort orientated models and as such they receive quilted seating surfaces  in a diamond pattern.

You can control everything with an eight-inch capacitive touch-screen which can be completely customized to your liking.

Engine specs

The powertrain of the 2017 Jaguar XJ is actually going to be a carryover line of V-6 and V-8 engines that were used before, but this time they will all be combined with an all-aluminum construction which is going to make the performance higher. The starting option is a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 which makes 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque and comes with a RWD and AWD layout.
