Revamped bodywork for the new 2017 Nissan Xterra

The sports utility segment of the car world is picking up ever more steam as the manufacturers try to get one up on the other through cool designs and features. This Japanese car maker is doing the same by introducing the 2017 Nissan Xterra.

Nissan saw other automobile manufacturers overtake it in this big car section and it now wants a share of that pie as well. The new Xterra from Nissan has gotten the full treatment when it comes to aesthetics.

Not only have their been signifcant changes on the outside, but also in the cabin of this SUV. The performance has also been upgraded so as to favorably compete with the big boys in this segment.

With the 2017 Xterra, Nissan has created a model that is both capable on the offroad as well as comfortable in the urban metropolitan jungle.

2017 Nissan Xterra exterior design

This mid size crossover SUV is a beauty to behold. It shows off characteristics of aggression while still keeping it in a mildly elegant facade.

The front fascia boasts a chunky and bold bumper. At either side of this is a a single fog light. This accentuates the size of the bumper, adding that aggressive look. The front lights appear boxy with tiny slivers at their extremes making for indicator lights.

This front end look is completed by chrome detailing around the latticework of the grille and from the underside of the car.

Chunky roof rails underline the off road readiness of this car. Towards the rear, this car becomes longer to accommodate a roomy storage area.

Popping the hood of the new Xterra

Beneath the hood of the 2017 Nissan Xterra, one should find a 4.0 liter direct overhead camshaft V6 engine.

This powerhouse is expected to be able to churn out a maximum horsepower of 261 horse and a torque amounting to 281 pound-feet. This will be mated to a 5 speed automatic transmission gear box. For those opting to go classic, the engine will have a 6 speed manual transmission gearbox.

Despite the new Xterra having having a number of variants on offer, the same engine will be available across all the trims. This engine is also reported to go easy on the pocket, providing reasonable mileage.

The cabin

The SUV segment is known for classy and elegant interiors of the automobile. This, therefore, means that Nissan had to up its game so as to be at or near par with the rest of the participants.

The first thing one notices is the clean and airy look of the interior. Everything looks spacious and in its right place. The instrument, displays and dials are well spaced to effortlessly give off an elegant ambience.

The folks over at Nissan have installed a 5.8 inch touch screen as part of the infotainment system. Alongside this are other top notch amenities that are set to make the ride more enjoyable. Some of these include; Bluetooth, USB ports, Pandora Link Support as well as AM,CD,FM player.

Release date and Price of the 2017 Nissan Xterra

Nissan has slapped a price ranging from $24,500 to $33,000 according to Best Luxury SUV. This sports utility vehicle is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of 2017.
