The Japanese carmaker has been playing around with the idea of a 2017 Subaru XV Crosstrek concept in recent times. Finally we have some confirmation which were made public at the Geneva Motor Show after them failing to do so in Detroit and for a moment leaving us heartbroken that we would get any confirmation about it soon. Subaru used the Tokyo show and the Los Angeles one to introduce the new flagship vehicle, the Subaru Impreza and made indications that another XV Crosstrek is on the way. So we now have the exclusive scoop on the concept design that the car is going to incorporate.
Just like the Impreza and the full redesign that they had give to the car, the Subaru XV Crosstrek is going to follow suit. It appears that the redesign is going to feature an entire new look as remodeling are something that Subaru plans to do with their latest fleet of vehicles. What Subaru plans to do with these new models is to introduce the company’s new Dynamic X Solid design language which is in turn going to continue on the next-gen models that are going to come out in the future.
The information about the 2017 Subaru XC Crosstrek are pretty scarce and a lot of information still has to be revealed and we are hoping to see them at the showcasing in Geneva. Actually the exterior is pretty much a done deal and we think that the outside of the car is going to carry over to the production version without much changes but the inside is something that still needs to be discussed and analyzed. There is no confirmation on the release date as of yet but keep reading the review and we might shed some light on that piece of information.
Exterior concept design
The new 2017 Subaru XC Crosstrek has a big redesign to it which is going to be a part of the introduction of the next-gen vehicle from Subaru and the introduction of their new design language. Since the XV Crosstrek model is basically a high-riding version of the Impreza, it is now wonder that the new 2017 XV Crosstrek resembles the newly released 2017 Subaru Impreza model.
The XV Crosstrek and the Impreza have always had similarities between them in the past, so it only makes sense to continue with the same kind of an idea for this new model version. The 2017 XV Crosstrek is going to get the hawk-eye headlights and the large hexagonal grille already seen on the Impreza model. But the difference is the thick bar which goes across the grille and the positioning of the Subaru logo as well. The two fog lights have a different new design and there are two new vertical bars integrated into the matte black cladding which expands the wheel arches as well. The front part also adds an underbody protection which comes with an organic trim.
The 2017 Subaru XV Crosstrek concept is going to feature some new 19-inch wheels as they are updated with star-shaped spokes. The rear end of the car will feature C-shaped taillights and an aluminum skid guard which has the same organic highlights as the front of the car. They also add some matte black cladding on the sides of the car and there are also going to be some honeycomb-looking brake lights firmly integrated into rear end lights. The dimensions of the car have also already been disclosed so they measure up to 178 inches long, 75.6 inches wide, and 61.8 inches high while the wheelbase measurements sit at 105.1 inches.
The interior specs of the 2017 Subaru XV Crosstrek are still kept undisclosed. This was also the move Subaru pulled with the introduction of the Subaru Impreza and the Five-Door Concepts that were released before them. We have been used to getting this sort of a treatment from Subaru and it seams that they are going to continue with this premise as they are keeping it low on the news about the development of the new technology that they are inputting. This is pretty understandable and it might come as a totally bigger surprise once they reveal it.
What we assume the car needs and what we see added to the Impreza model is a shiny new dashboard design. This is something that the latest car lacked and what could be developed and incorporated here. It may also function as the foundation for the entire interior design which is going to follow it with perhaps a completely digital dials and an all-new instrument cluster. We are also looking forward on seeing an entirely new infotainment system with a large display. Comfort-wise, a new set of seats is in the development stage and will be ready for the production version.
There was no apparent hype for the powertrain of the 2017 Subaru XV Crosstrek, so they are going to keep the same one as before. We can see the same 2.0-liter boxer engine under the hood of the 2017 version and it is going to make 148 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque this time. As for the transmission systems, the base version of the XV Crosstrek is going to come with a five-speed manual transmission and it was also announced that a CVT version is not going to be released for this year. But there is going to be a 4-wheel drive owing to a Subaru’s noted AWD system.
Release date and price
The release date for the 2017 Subaru XV Crosstrek is going to be disclosed soon, once the concept is revealed and the production level version established. We can expect to see the mode next year as with the showcasing in Geneva we are getting closer to an established official version. The production version is going to update the interior compared to the concept and will features slight changes on the outside so the price is going to be a bit higher compared to the $21,595 of the previous model.
