2017 Suzuki Swift review

2017 Suzuki Swift

By managing to establish some new nameplates for their company, the Japanese automaker has finally found time to completely concentrate on releasing its new 2017 Suzuki Swift. In the past, Suzuki had only three names under its belt, of course the Swift, Vitara and SX4 crossovers. The Baleno was issued in order to provide added competition in the subcompact compartment which was dominated by the VW Polo and Ford Fiesta. With the introduction of this and some new models, the time has come for them to focus on the prime entry, which is the Swift of course.

With the first spy photos comes the review as we have managed to get a first glimpse at the super-mini model. The people are also happy to see that the model has managed to do a lot for its exterior look and has actually decide to go with an evolutionary style rather than incorporate ad completely new design language.

But what is an interesting approach here is that the Swift is going to feature an entirely new kind of a platform which is going to make the car a lot more lighter and stronger. The platform is actually shared with the Baleno model and manages to reduce the weight by 15%, but add 10% when it comes to the body rigidity. All of this promises better driving dynamics for the car and also brings improved fuel economy as well.

The first glimpse of the 2017 Suzuki Swift is reported for the Paris Auto Show this year, while sales start next year. Keep reading the review and till then you can find out everything important about the model here.

Exterior

The design of the 2017 Suzuki Swift is going to adopt an evolutionary aspect, and we all agree it is far better than going for a whole new and different kind of a styling. The thing that catches the attention first are the headlamps which are smaller and have a more angular shape, similar as the design seen in the Baleno model. The grille has a new trapezoidal shape and is wider compared to the previous one, while the lower grille is thinner consequent of that and gives the Swift an overall sporty look.

The curvy taillight design has been departed around back and has been substituted for an angular one. The recess has also been lowered from the bumper and there is a mild revision done to the bumper. Except that, there are not many major changes done to the rear end of the car. There is going to be a small thin spoiler also placed to the back side whish also suggests a sporty appearance for the car.

The side of the car has some more visible changes added. Despite the fact that the overall proportions of the car are similar to the previous model, the Swift has a new roofline design which is slightly raked toward the rear end of the vehicle. It also sports some new and redesigned C-pillars, a reshaped rear door and a new beltline as well.

Interior

The look of the interior of the 2017 Suzuki Swift is also going to mainly rely on the appearance of the Belano model. The highlight of the car is the V-shaped dashboard which is going to combine with  redesigned A/C vents that are complemented by chrome accents. The modern instrument cluster also features an  LCD display and there is a revised steering wheel which has all the multi function steering controls placed on it.

There is a new seven-inch touchscreen  which allows the drier to gain access to some unique controls for this car. You can connect it to your iPhone and command the  Apple’s CarPlay, audiobooks, maps and music as well. Featured are also a USB port and an SD card insert as well.

The features which were new for the Belano are going to be standard for this model. These include the adaptive cruise control system which comes with a wave radar that tells you the amount of traffic in front of you. The front seats have a new and improved optimal shape and design to them as they bring you ultimate comfort and reliability. The luggage area has also improved and has the 355 liters (12.5 cubic feet) to it.

Engine

The new 2017 Suzuki Swift was reported with an updated engine setup. It is mainly going to concentrate on updating or enhancing the current variations that are given and will improve the vehicles overall specs. The model gets a 1.2-liter Dualjet  engine which is going to be updated and will produce at 89 horsepower and 89 pound-feet. But there is going to be a more powerful option in play, the 1.0-liter, three-cylinder Boosterjet, which produces  110 horses and 125 pound-feet and is an added option for those who require more power out of their Swift model. The first engine uses a five-speed transmission and has an optional CVT, while the second allows the new six-speed automatic to be used.
