Lexus is an interesting manufacture. They create absolutely stunning automobiles, but happen to fall short on the performance metrics. Which a lot of the time is completely fine, but with a face like the Lexus RC F, you’d expect the most punch in the business. It is sad, because like the great Jeremy Clarkson said, a company that made the amazing LFA, we should expect more out of their performance vehicles.
Now let’s look at the 2018 Lexus LS. Through Lexus’ redesigning process, the LS is the last to receive their ultra-aggressive design language. And that will encompass most of the 2018 Lexus LS changes. Gone is the old Lexus that your grandpa loved, and in is this new “I’ll slice your head off” styling; I love it. This seems to be a trend companies like Lexus and Cadillac are taking up to which is helping their average owner age into younger years.
This is incredible…I seriously don’t know where to begin. The grille is just out of this world cool. The way the lines on the front end are pinched and pulled into the grille to create this muscular face was executed perfectly. This is the most in-your-face Lexus yet, and is the pinnacle of flashy luxury. I personally love this design language Lexus has.
The rear end is much more…normal. There aren’t as many crazy lines, which is perfect for the biggest Lexus you can get. The LS line itself has always been tuned to an older audience, and I feel that they will still find comfort in the rear end. It is so elegant and executive with the coolest tail lamps I’ve seen on a sedan. Incredible work on a design front.
Here is another winning element in the LS. The 2018 Lexus LS 500 interior is just beautiful. It reminds me some of the S-Class from Mercedes, but the way it’s executed is completely unique. I always have an issue with manufactures creating similar looking vehicles to their competitors, but Lexus gets it right every time.
I can’t stress how cool the 2018 Lexus LS interior is. The two massive displays look very at home, the wood is super stylish and the way the vents combine into aesthetic lines in the dashboard is just fantastic. Not to mention that smooth touch pad controller at the base of the center console, presumably to control the infotainment set up. Heads up display is also a pretty handy feature in the 2018 Lexus LS, which just makes your drive that much cooler. If that wasn’t enough, the HUD is the worlds largest display. Lexus doesn’t know what subtle means, do they?
Now we have the back seat. This is a focus area for manufactures these days to perfect and rework to make sure the rear seat passengers are just as comfortable, if not more comfortable, than the front seat occupants. We see this in the likes of Cadillac, BMW and Mercedes rear seat executive package that puts rear seat occupants in this immense world of cushy luxury. Just look at those seats and tell me that doesn’t look comfortable as ever.
The 2018 Lexus LS will be able to seat four adults comfortably, while five can be seated inside as well.
Lexus truly fired on all pistons (car pun) with the 2018 LS. There is a new twin turbocharged V6 engine that will be pushing out 415 HP and 442 Lb-Ft of torque. The engine options will be connected to a new 10-speed automatic transmission for the most comfortable ride possible. This new powerful engine and crazy big transmission helps the 2018 Lexus LS go from a stand still to 60 miles per hour in a rather impressive 4.5 seconds. Lexus’ new GA-L technology for the chassis creates a lower and wider base for better performance and handling, which is also impressive.
I’m really happy to hear that the new 2018 Lexus LS will be able to pull its weight well. For similar money, a lot of Lexus models are a lot slower than their models competitors. This is even worse since Lexus’ look crazy fast and sporty, like the RC. BMW 4 Series are much quicker on their feet than Lexus RC’s, and given the nature of their category, quickness is a make or break affair. Lexus needs faster, better performing cars to really compete. Again I’m really happy that the LS is rewriting this curse. But as for their lower end cars, my money will go elsewhere.

Sum It Up:
While pricing isn’t confirmed yet for the LS 460 or LS 500, we can look to the current model to see what we might expect. However, everything else seems to be completely redone. I’m very fine with that too, because this new 2018 Lexus LS looks absolutely fantastic. I do hope that Lexus continues to create vehicles that are as fast as they look, otherwise people who actually want sports-oriented vehicles will search elsewhere. The 2018 Lexus LS will be available later this year as a 2018 model, and will definitely be a serious player in this obsessive luxury market. Technology is getting really serious in these cars too, so let’s hope the Lexus’ styling is as smart as its brains.
