Unmasked eleven years ago during the Geneva Motor Show, the McLaren 650S spared no chance and took over the sports car market segment by storm as an alternative to the already worn off MP4-12C model.
The P16 will prove to be a working masterpiece that will blend styling cues from both the P1 supercar and the 12C, and will share the same 3.8L V8 powertrain that powers the rest of the McLaren line-up.
Although the McLaren 650S hasn’t hit the market as yet, internet sources suggest that the new car is a sport car that will be worth a wait. Just as a preview, the 2015 McLaren 650S Spider engine will consist of a 3.8L twin turbocharged V8 engine which will be able to crank out about 640 horsepower and 678 Nm of torque.
The aforementioned engine will be controlled by a dual clutch transmission system with seven peed. There will also be carbon ceramic rotors that will aid the vehicle slow down quickly from top speeds.
The transmission system will transmit the power to the rear wheels. Through road tests, it has been revealed that it will now take the new McLaren 650S Spider 2015 three seconds to sprint from standstill to 60 miles per hour.
Moving on, the luxury British automaker, according to well-placed sources, has already started work on the anticipated 2018 McLaren P16 Vehicle, which will be the successor to the 2015 McLaren 650 Spider.
Rumours going round suggest that the British automobile giant has already rolled out plans of releasing a new model each year up to 2019, the P16 sports car is speculated to arrive in several body configurations and versions.
2018 McLaren P16 Expect
As you would expect, the much hyped up P16 will score better than the 650S in almost all aspects. According to industry experts, the car will be agile, faster, powerful, and will have lesser carbon dioxide emissions than most of its would-be competitors thanks to the state-of-the-art engineering currently taking place by its engineers.
