2018 Range Rover Velar

Land Rover creates some of the finest SUV’s on earth.  From on the road to off the road, Land Rover’s SUV’s seem to tame anything they can get their tires on.  Even while most Land Rover models only really see Los Angeles parking lots and soccer practice, they are built for so much more.

Land Rover’s are incredibly good at what they do, and that is why they are so popular.  Nearly every rap song seems to have a line dedicated to the British automaker.

In recent years, Land Rover has been revamping their entire line up and launching new vehicles to compliment the season of change.  The Land Rover line up now includes a coming redesigned Defender, Range Rover, Evoque, Discovery, Discovery Sport and now the Velar.

The 2018 Range Rover Velar is the newest addition to the Land Rover line up.  Just by the way it looks, you’ll be surprised at the fact that it’s starting price is lower than its brother, the Range Rover.

The new 2018 Range Rover Velar is an array of new technology and absolutely stunning looks.  There is plenty here to talk about with this new vehicle, including the coolest climate control system I’ve seen.

The Exterior-2018 Land Rover Velar:

2018 Range Rover Velar

Land Rover has very distinctive styling for their vehicles, which makes them pretty much instantly recognizable as a status symbol.  Nearly anyone from college girls to enthusiasts can tell when a Land Rover is passing by.

The 2018 Range Rover Velar is a sharp update to the overall design of the Range Rover.  Quite possibly the most beautiful example of Land Rover’s design language.

The 2018 Range Rover Velar is everything that the Range Rover is, but executed a lot better.

Land Rover squinted the eyes of the Range Rover and fitted new secondary air splitters on each side of the front fascia.

There isn’t much going on with the front end, and Land Rover pulls it off perfectly.  The 2018 Range Rover Velar is a simple design but executed fantastically.

The side profile and look of the 2018 Range Rover Velar is the one of the best styles I’ve ever seen on an SUV.

It almost looks like a concept vehicle with how sleek the roof line is, and how long the front end is before the wind screen.  The 2018 Range Rover Velar has an incredibly beautiful silhouette that looks as upscale as Land Rover has ever have.

The Rear:

From the rear, there is more squinting going on.  The bottom of the rear end is slopped upwards and the roof line is slopped downwards to create a beautifully complete design in the rear.  The SUV is pretty large, but the dynamic design of the Velar makes it look much smaller, luxurious and overall, great.

2018 Range Rover Velar

The 2018 Range Rover Velar has door handles that retract into the car when it is locked, that add that little bit of flare to your Range Rover.  In case you wanted more presence from a Range Rover.

Overall, the 2018 Range Rover Velar is stunning.  Land Rover did a fantastic job making the “cheapest” Range Rover the most lovely to look at.

The Interior-2018 Range Rover Velar:

2018 Range Rover Velar

The interior of the 2018 Range Rover Velar is quite the spectacle.  Like the exterior, the interior is everything that the Range Rover is, but executed much better…And with wool.

Much of what we see inside is familiar to the standard Range Rover, but the Velar looks more techy.  For example, the climate control and some media controls are placed in a touchscreen underneath the main infotainment screen.  I’m usually not a fan of a dual-screen layout, but the Velar’s execution is great once again.

The instrument cluster is also completely digital.  Which means that you can toggle through different screens and information without taking your eyes (too far) off the road.

As always, plush leather and lovely wood surrounds you in the 2018 Range Rover Velar.  The more I look at the features and design of the 2018 Range Rover Velar, the more I question: Why would you spent an extra $25,000+ on a Range Rover Sport?

The Performance-2018 Range Rover Velar:

As with all Land Rover’s, you get an athletic silhouette that is also a king off road.  That is something that Land Rover is legendary for accomplishing, and they still deliver till this day.

I must say that while the 2018 Range Rover Velar doesn’t exactly look like it can be taken of road in mud and rocks like its siblings, I’m sure Land Rover will find a way.

The new SUV comes with a 2.0 L turbocharged four cylinder engine (surprising), a 2.0 L turbo-diesel (a little less surprising) and a 3.0 L supercharged V6 (not surprising).

I am surprised that Land Rover opted for a small engine in the Velar, but everyone is cutting back these days.  I’m sure the engine will pull the weight well.

All wheel drive is standard in the 2018 Range Rover Velar (obviously).  We will have to wait and see if the Velar can truly live up to the Land Rover name of off-road capability.

Sum It Up:

The 2018 Range Rover Velar is a stunning SUV.  It looks the part, which in Land Rover’s world, means it can play the part as well.  The technology is cutting edge, but the usefulness of it will be determined as people test it out.

Look for a release date fro the 2018 Range Rover Velar in Fall 2017.
