So when everyone is talking about the all-new 2017 Lexus GX 460, we definitely wanted to do a review. On first look, it seems to offer both luxury and better off-road performance. But looks often deceive right? So we tried our hands on the Lexus GX. The first ride was quite impressive and we can definitely say that it is a one of a kind SUV that can comfortably be called  a family SUV. It has  a tough built durable body,on-frame construction, tackles off-road routes and yet provides a smooth ride and ultimate passenger comfort to its occupants.

Lexus was one of the first entrants to test the waters with the luxury SUV vehicles affordable to suburban people. The RX which launched in ’98 was hugely popular and that was the reason it was one the most sold luxury SUVs in the United States. Within a few years, many auto makers released their own luxury SUVs with many variations in features, colors, comfort and styling, as the luxury SUVs are the most-sought after and also the most-profitable vehicle segment in the automobile industry.

Lexus GX – Exterior

The Lexus GX comes with an exclusive Sports Design Package makes the GX stay ahead of the competition with its ultimate design and styling. The 18-inch Gunmetal Metallic alloy wheels, sport design front fascia, side mirrors with sport detail, scarlet lamps and the darker rear tail lamp housings make the GX look sporty and cool. The Spindle grill front fascia dominates the sporty look but blends well with the overall look of the Lexus GX to give it more of a solid and sturdy look. It sports a conservative look from the rear, with a wide design and large tail lamps. One can say the GX also sports a truck like scheme with its striking beltline design and the carved out fenders on the side.

The Lexus GX is available in two versions, base and luxury versions. It’s pretty odd to call it the base version as it does not have any cool features. So, if you are going to buy a Lexus GX, you definitely need to go with the luxury version to enjoy the its comforts to the fullest. The luxury version has  additional features and provides a beautifully smooth and comforting ride, thanks to the auto-leveling rear air springs.

Lexus GX – Interior

Truly, the people behind the Lexus GX interior design should be experts in using leather and wood to the right proportion to give a warm and luxurious feeling on the inside of the Lexus GX. Even though some may call it an old-school design concept, it is still captivating with its beautifully placed out controls and knobs with striking colors. The Lexus GX is a 7 passenger vehicle with 3 rows of seating. The flat folding 3rd row provides more option to carry more cargo on the rear, the second row is provided with captain chairs for superior comfort.

The Lexus Enform Application provides complete control of your vehicle and lots of entertainment options. There is also a dual screen rear seat entertainment system to keep you occupied when you are on the move. The rear window with a top hinge makes it easy to carry along bikes, cargo or even surfboards on the top. The base version comes with a NuLuxe upholstery, but with the luxury version you get leather seats for extreme comfort. The front row and the second row seats provide terrific comfort levels, whereas the third row seats are only suited for kids. The control and the entertainment are placed impeccably in the dashboard.

Lexus GX – Engine

The  redesigned Lexus GX boasts a 4.6 liter V8 engine that is capable of producing 301 horsepower and 329 lb-ft of torque. It takes just 7.8 seconds to reach 0-60 mph. The 6-speed automatic transmission gives the Lexus GX a smooth ride. With a full-time four wheel drive and a low-range transfer case, the GX provides  excellent off-road performance. It has a towing capacity of up to 6500 pounds. One thing about the Lexus GX is that the steering and the brakes are not responsive enough when you switch on the vehicle and that is the reason the 5200 pound GX takes some time to gear to highway speeds quickly like other SUVs in the market.
